ABSTRACT: A new species of Drypetes, D. kwangtungensis, from the Guangdong Province in China is described and illustrated. It is morphologically very similar to D. obtusa, from which it differs by having elliptic leaves with an acute apex that is sometimes retuse. In addition, the fruits of D. kwangtungensis are obovoid and almost twice as large as those of D. obtusa.
